The City of Manassas has become an affiliate of the non-profit Keep America Beautiful, forming Keep Manassas Beautiful.
Keep America Beautiful focuses their work on preventing littering, and promoting recycling and beautification in communities.
According to a release, the organization has more than 620 affiliates, including 26 state-level affiliates and international affiliates.
“Manassas is a beautiful City with active and involved residents. I know our residents, volunteers and staff are proud to receive this designation and will work hard to keep the City beautiful for generations to come,” stated City Manager Patrick Pate in a release.
The city will work with the community on Keep America Beautiful’s objectives. In order to become an affiliate, the city’s Recycling Coordinator and Citizen’s Advisory Committee on Solid Waste had to work to meet requirements for the designation.
“As part of the Keep America Beautiful national affiliate network, Keep Manassas Beautiful has pledged to act as a catalyst for positive community change, with the goal of improving the quality of life for every resident of the City of Manassas by leading the fight to end littering, improve recycling and beautifying its local community. We welcome Keep Manassas Beautiful as an important part of our growing national movement, as it embarks on transforming the City of Manassas’ public spaces into beautiful places,” stated Keep America Beautiful Vice President/Litter and Affiliate Relations Cecile Carson in a release.
