Looking for a resource to talk about breastfeeding and parenthood? Then head over to Jirani’s Coffeehouse at 9425 West Street in Manassas.
According to a release, the coffeehouse is partnering with Novant Health to open a Baby Café, which will have its grand opening tomorrow.
The grand opening is being held in conjunction with World Breastfeeding Month, according to a Jirani’s spokesperson.
According to a Jirani’s spokesperson, Baby Café is a free resource for moms to meet with one another and consult with certified lactation consultants.
The Jirani’s location is part of a larger national network of “cafes” that provide breastfeeding support.
More on Baby Cafes, from their website:
A Baby Café is a free resource for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers to get support from specifically-trained staff and to share experiences with other moms. No appointment is needed and Baby Café sites are generally open at least once a week and offer refreshments, comfortable seating, and open-forum discussion. Some Cafes offer play areas for accompanying toddlers. Locations vary from church halls, community rooms and soup kitchens to WIC clinics and hospitals. Some Cafés welcome male partners, and all Cafés welcome female supporters.
Following the grand opening, guests will be welcomed into a private room at the coffeehouse with free snacks and drinks, and all parents and children are welcome.
The bi-weekly sessions will take place every other Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
