Services will continue to be offered to women inmates who have a mental illness.
The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services has provided a Jail Mental Health Pilot Program grant to the Board of County Supervisors (BOCS).
Amounting to more than $351,000, the funds will pay for a mental health therapist and an re-entry therapist, according to a release from Prince William County.
They will offer staff training and therapeutic programs, provide medication, and increase psychiatric services at the Prince William-Manassas Regional Adult Detention Center (ADC).
About 80 percent of the women inmates are able to receive the services.
ADC received $410,898 after applying for a Jail Mental Health Pilot Program grant four years ago.
It has been awarded with a grant every year afterward.
Prince William County also received a grant last year.
