Are you registered for the 6th annual IWALK for ACTS?
The IWALK is a 5K walk and run that’s hosted by Image Church to raise much needed funds for area non-profit Action in Community Through Service (ACTS).
This year’s IWALK is happening on October 1 at Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center in Woodbridge at 14900 Potomac Town Place.
The race will kick off at 9 a.m., and costs $20 per person, $50 per family, or $15 per person in a team of four or more. The race will be timed.
Following the race, Image Church and ACTS will be hosting a free family festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with food vendors, entertainment, face painting, moon bounces, carnival games, and more.
“Image Church loves doing [this] because we want to be a light in the community…part of our mission is to serve our community. We want to serve them, we want to meet needs, and so we feel the best way we can do that is to partner with ACTS,” said Image Church’s lead Pastor Chris Rhodenhizer.
ACTS provides assistance for those dealing with hunger, homelessness, and violence in Prince William County.
“Every bit of the money that’s raised, goes right into the programs that we serve the community with, and there are a lot of programs that aren’t funded by grants or contracts, and it’s these types of events that bring in dollars that we can use in a way that really fits the client. The money raised through the IWALK and through other supporters – that allows us to really be there for whatever the need is in the community,” said ACTS CEO Steve Liga.
Last year the IWALK was able to raise $44,000 for ACTS, and they’re hoping to boost that number this year.
