Final training sessions are underway as community members prepare for a 5k run/walk event.
The eighth annual IWALK for ACTS is slated for October 6.
It will start at 8 a.m. at Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center in Woodbridge. Check in and in-person registration begins at 7 a.m.
Action in Community Through Service (ACTS) and Image Church are running the IWALK for ACTS.
Proceeds from the event will benefit ACTS, a Dumfries-based non-profit that offers several resources and services in Prince William County.
“ACTS is so grateful for the team of volunteers from Image Church who organize this event,” Event Director and ACTS Board Member Beth Seidler wrote in an email. “We are very close to reaching our goal of raising $150,000 for the vital work that ACTS does in the community. One hundred percent of the net proceeds of the event goes directly to ACTS.”
A free family festival featuring food vendors and activities will be held afterward.
The festival will end at 1 p.m., when the winner of a 2 year lease on a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta will be announced.
Karen Radley, one of the IWALK for ACTS sponsors, is providing the lease.
Wegmans is another supporter of the event.
Raffle tickets for the Volkswagen Jetta and registration for the IWALK for ACTS are available online. It costs $25 for each individual or team member and $55 per family to participate in the 5k.
