Ready. Set. Go.
Hundreds of walkers and runners took to the streets at Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center on Saturday morning for the eighth annual IWALK for ACTS.
More than 700 community members participated in the 5K run/walk, which was followed by a free family festival.
The Woodbridge-based event was run by Action in Community Through Service (ACTS) and Image Church.
Image Church, according to Lead Pastor Chris Rhodenhizer, seeks to be a “beacon of light.”
“We want to shine the light of Jesus, help those in need, and make a difference in our community,” Rhodenhizer said.
All proceeds from the event are benefiting ACTS, a non-profit located in Dumfries.
ACTS serves more than 80,000 Prince William County residents each year, according to Beth Seidler, an ACTS board member and a member of Image Church.
This year’s IWALK for ACTS had brought in about $146,000 as of Tuesday morning, Seidler said.
Last year, almost $100,000 was collected through the event.
Event leaders are still collecting donations.
Those interested in contributing to the IWALK for ACTS can do so online.
