Let’s get moving.
The 2020 IWALK for ACTS is almost here.
It’s occurring virtually between October 3 and October 11.
Proceeds from the 10th annual fundraiser are benefiting Action in Community Through Service (ACTS), a non-profit that runs various programs.
Housing Services, the Prince William Food Rescue, a 24/7 helpline and Senior Link, and a Hunger Prevention Center are among the services it offers.
“This year, with COVID, we especially need your help, ‘cause our neighbors are really suffering,” ACTS CEO Steve Liga explained. “They’re out of work, they’re underpaid, they’re having trouble with health insurance, and they’re hungry.”
ACTS is feeding 4,000 families every week.
Community members can get involved through a number of activities – walking, running, bike riding, swimming, paddle boarding and rock climbing, to name a few.
“Whatever you do to get moving, it’s going to help us to help your neighbors,” Liga said.
