A group of Woodbridge locals have formed a band, and are enjoying playing their music across the Prince William County area.
The band, In Remembrance (IR Band), was formed by guitarist and lead singer Nick Letendre, guitarist and backup vocalist Joe Ford, drummer and percussionist Nick Harris, and keyboard player and backup vocalist Robert Baird.
The locally grown group – Letendre, Ford, and Harris all graduated together from Gar-Field High School – started in 2006, after Letendre’s brother Captain Brian Letendre was killed in Iraq.
IR plays an eclectic mix of original songs and covers.
“Our cover music is anywhere from Miley Cyrus to Garth Brooks, and everything in between,” said Letendre.
The band recently “saved the day” by stepping in at the last minute to play at Leesylvania State Park’s first Music at the Marina performance for the season.
“It was a cool gig. We kind of got in at the last minute because the Army Band [Downrange] was not able to do it unfortunately…we got to go out there – had a blast – and saw some fireworks at the end,” said Ford.
IR will be playing at Madigan’s Waterfront in Occoquan on July 21 and the Electric Palm restaurant in Occoquan on July 22.
“We just have fun, and I think that’s one of the biggest pieces of feedback we get from our audience is that they have fun listening to us – they’re getting that we’re having fun up on stage,” said Ford.
The next Music at the Marina performances will be the U.S. Army Band Downrange on July 29, and Country Current on August 26.
