Did you know that the Manassas City Hall features art displays throughout the year?
Right now, there are paintings from Leela Nowka – an impressionistic-style painter from India, according to a City of Manassas release.
Currently a city resident, Nowka has spent plenty of time abroad, working in the Indian Diplomatic Service.
More on Nokwa’s background from a release:
Born in Niarobi, Kenya, Nowka graduated college in India from the Isabella Thoburn Women’s College. She had a long a career in the Indian Diplomatic Service and is currently retired and living in the City of Manassas.
Nowka studied art under impressionist painter Sylva Monteleon and realist painter Acharya Charles Pather. In 2008 she oversaw the “Object D’Art Cell” in the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi. The group provided art to dignitaries and Indian Embassies.
There are new art exhibits at City Hall each month, and it is free for viewing from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the week, according to a release.
