Are you an artist? Then the Hylton Performing Arts Center wants to see what you can do.
Hylton is hosting it’s third annual juried exhibition to highlight the visual arts. According to a release, artists across Virginia are invited to submit two original pieces that will be judged by a panel.
The top winning pieces will be displayed in the Buchanan Partners Art Gallery from May 15 to July 10 in Manassas, according to a release.
In addition to having their work exhibited, winners will be honored at a reception on May 19 and receive a certificate and a cash prize, stated a release. According to a release, the winner that is given the ‘Best in Show’ award will get the opportunity to have their own solo exhibit at the gallery.
The deadline for artwork submissions is April 1, according to a release.

Reception: Thursday, May 19 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Categories and Descriptions of Accepted Art:
Ceramics – clay earthenware, porcelain, terracotta, or stoneware
Drawing – dry media
Fiber – batik, book making, papermaking, quilting, weaving, etc. excludes clothing
Glass – Does not include jewelry
Jewelry and Wearable Art
Furniture
Mixed Media (2D or 3D)
Painting – must be original work
Printmaking – must be original and hand-pulled by submitting artist
Photography – must be original work
Sculpture – can be made of found objects. Medium includes wood, marble, stone, etc.
Submission Requirements:
Must be a resident of the Commonwealth of Virginia
Submissions are due between February 1 – April 1, 2016 (closed at 11:59 pm)
Applicants under the age of 18 must have guardian’s consent
All artwork must be created within the last five years
Up to two pieces of artwork per applicant
Complete application form for each submission along with $35 submission fee for each submission, non-refundable. Application is not complete until the Hylton Center receives submission fee
Along with the application submit one jpeg image for 2D work and two jpeg images of 3D work, no larger than 25 MB total
3D pieces cannot manipulate Gallery space
2D pieces must be wired on the back for install
