Hurricane Dorian is about to head north.
The category 4 hurricane is hitting Grand Bahama Island today and tonight, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Even though the storm is expected to weaken, the NWS says it’s anticipated to stay powerful in the coming days.
Between tonight and Wednesday evening, Hurricane Dorian is forecasted to move close to the East Coast of Florida before heading to Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina on Wednesday night and Thursday.
Rain and thunderstorms are expected in Virginia and other states along the East Coast until 8 a.m. on Tuesday, according to a map from the NWS.
