Transporting adoptable animals has been a bit of a challenge for the Prince William Humane Society (PWHS).
Founded in 2012, the animal welfare organization takes in pets at its adopt shop at 17983 Dumfries Shopping Plaza in Dumfries. The animals are cared for until a home is found.
Volunteers and staff ensure that they make it to medical appointments and adoption events.
The non-profit won’t need to rely on personal vehicles much longer, however.
A pet transport van has been found.
“The van will be used to transport pets to and from off site adoption events and vet clinics,” Lead Caregiver Ashley Stevens wrote in an email. “We will also use it to transport newly transferred shelter animals to our adopt shop.”
To help pay for the van, PWHS must raise $10,000.
It’s collecting funds by selling t-shirts through Custom Ink.
Those who aren’t interested in purchasing a shirt can still make a donation on the website.
