Thanks to donations from the community, non-profit House of Mercy (HOM) was able to provide 144 pairs of shoes to Prince William children in need.
According to a release, it’s House of Mercy’s eighth year of distributing shoes to children in need, as they get ready to head back to school.
The organization’s minimum goal for this year’s shoe collection drive was 125, so while they exceeded their minimum goal, they were not able to reach their ultimate goal of 200 pairs, according to a release.
The shoes were given to children whose families participate in HOM’s self-improvement courses, such as money management, cooking and nutrition, and ESL.
“We want to make sure the parents who take a class are rewarded,” stated HOM Executive Director Ann Cimini in a release.
