Tomorrow, the House of Mercy is hosting their sixth annual “Campaign to End Hunger” meal packing event, and they need your help.
According to a release, the event is held each year as a way to provide food for the hungry and malnourished.
House of Mercy uses the event as a way to raise funds for the organization, and the various programs and services they offer in the community, according to a release. During the event, volunteers will work in two hour shifts from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the organization’s location at 8170 Flannery Court in Manassas.
The fee for each volunteer shift is $20, with the fee being used to cover the cost for the meals, supplies, shipping, and work that House of Mercy does, stated a release.
“Eighty six cents of each donation dollar House of Mercy receives goes back into our programs to support and serve the poor,” stated House of Mercy Assistant Director Felice Hilton in a release.
The goal is to pack 50,000 meals during the event, according to a release.
This year the beneficiaries of the food will be the St. Lucy Project of the Diocese of Arlington and the Capital Area Food Bank, according to a release.
