Want to have a say in the name of the “Potomac Shores” Elementary School? Then get to the community input session on January 30.
The school is currently under construction at 2500 River Heritage Boulevard in Dumfries.
According to a release, the community meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Potomac High School.
“The committee will consider geographic or historical identifiers, as well as names of living or deceased person(s) who have made local, state, or national service contributions. Selection preference shall be given to those individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of education, especially within Prince William County,” stated a release.
The School Naming Committee is made up of school board members Loree Williams, Justin Wilk, and Chairman Ryan Sawyers, according to a release.
In addition to the meeting, residents can send their input on potential names to planning@pwcs.edu, or to the Office of Facilities Services – School Naming Committee, P.O. Box 389, Manassas, VA 20108 by January 30.
Following the process, the name recommendations will be presented to the Prince William School Board on February 1 and voted on during the February 15 meeting.
The new elementary school is slated to open this fall.
