Local middle school students can show their creative side through an upcoming art contest.
The Prince William County Animal Shelter is hosting its annual “Help a Horse” Day on April 29, according to a release.
The event, which will begin at Noon, will be held at the Manassas-based animal shelter.
In conjunction with the event, the annual shelter is sponsoring an art competition for county students.
Contest participants must submit 2- or 3-dimensional artwork based on the theme “Horse Feathers.”
The framed entries should be between 5”x7” and 11”x14” and must feature an “equine animal.”
Each submission should include the artist’s name, address and phone number on the back.
The animal shelter is accepting submissions and the completed registration forms between April 17 and 22.
Art entries will be displayed from April 24 to April 29, and will judged before the event begins.
Winning pieces will available for viewing between May 25 and June 1 at the McCoart County Government Building in Woodbridge.
Submissions that do not place must be picked up between 4 and 5 p.m. on April 29.
The contest guidelines and registration form are available on the Animal Shelter’s website.
