Tales of ghosts that inhabit Dumfries are being retold.
Historic Dumfries Virginia, Inc. (HDVI) is celebrating Halloween with some upcoming programs.
The non-profit’s annual ghost walks are returning this year.
“Return to the Shadows” and “Locked Inside” will take place on October 3, October 10, October 17, October 24 and October 31.
Beginning at 7 p.m., “Return to the Shadows” features a walking tour of haunted sites by the Weems-Botts Museum. “Return to the Shadows” tickets cost $16 for members and $18 for non-members.

“Locked Inside” starts at 11 p.m. During this program, attendees will go on a tour and investigate paranormal activity in the house. Tickets for “Locked Inside” are $75. Those who would like to participate must monitor their health seven days before the event.

Limited spaces are available for “Return to the Shadows” and “Locked Inside,” and face masks are required.

Anyone who would like to enjoy the festivities at a distance may take part in a virtual Halloween Tea at 1 p.m. on October 11. In addition to hearing ghost stories, participants will learn about recipes and game ideas.
Halloween Tea tickets cost $8 for members and $10 for non-members.
