Get ready for spring with some free seeds, and help the community at the same time.
The Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Manassas is kicking off spring by giving the first 100 customers that purchase or donate a wood-based product a free packet of Burpee Pollinator seeds tomorrow, April 22, according to a release.
The ReStore is an extension of Habitat for Humanity Prince William County, and provides low-cost home décor and building materials – all of which have been donated – for sale at their retail location.
According to a release, last year alone the ReStores around the world raised more than $100 million for homebuilding, and kept 128,000 tons of reusable material from landfills.
More on how residents can help the Restore, and Habitat for Humanity’s upcoming project, from a release:
Residents can donate items such as appliances, furniture, home goods, cabinets, lighting and building products. The ReStore then sells the products to the public at a fraction of the retail price. Proceeds from the ReStore help build, rehab and repair homes in Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park.
Habitat for Humanity Prince William County’s next project is to rehab a home at 4602 Central Park Drive in Woodbridge with family partner Wudasie Retta, Tesfaye Abuye and their three children, Kidus, Haleluya and Levi. Once the family has put in 350 hours of “sweat equity” in construction, education and other volunteer tasks, they will purchase the home from Habitat for Humanity with a zero-profit, affordable mortgage.
