After 11 years at 9506 Center Street in Manassas, the Habitat for Humanity ReStore is moving to a new location.
The new ReStore will be located at the former Food Lion location at 10159 Hastings Drive, near the Prince William Fairgrounds in Manassas.
According to Habitat for Humanity Prince William County President Traci DeGroat, they will miss the old location, but are excited about the new facility.
“This next building is about two and half times bigger and it’s all on one level, and the parking lot is phenomenal. I think it’s really going to be better for the shoppers’ experience, and for the donors too,” said DeGroat.
It will also be easier to process donations in the new space, said DeGroat.
All merchandise that is sold at ReStore locations is donated by businesses and individuals. The materials are sold at a discounted rate to support Habitat for Humanity’s home repairs and rehabilitation projects to provide affordable housing to people in need in Prince William County.
“[At this new store] we’re really starting from scratch with new donations at the new location,” said DeGroat.
The new ReStore will have it’s grand opening on January 23, and the organization is looking for donations, according to DeGroat.
“We’re stocking our new location, so we can have a big grand opening,” said DeGroat.
More on donating to the ReStore, from a Habitat for Humanity release:
The ReStore accepts donations of new and gently used household items and building materials such as furniture, appliances, books, cabinetry, windows, hardware, lumber, tools, flooring, lighting, home décor and more. All donations are tax-deductible.
ReStore staff will be on site at the Hastings location to accept donations in the coming weeks from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturdays (they will be closed on New Year’s Day). If donors have large items they cannot bring in themselves, they can schedule a pickup for a later time. Pickups are scheduled by calling 703-369-6145 or by e-mailing restore@habitatpwc.org.
Several months ago, Habitat for Humanity also announced they would be opening a ReStore location at Noblewood Plaza in Woodbridge, but the opening date has been pushed back.
“It’s been in the works for a long time, because we had to get a special use permit,” said DeGroat.
DeGroat said that the opening of the Woodbridge location is now slated for spring 2016.
