Character, education and health are a few focus areas of Prince William County and Manassas Boys & Girls Club programs.
The public can help support these youth activities through an annual fundraiser.
The Great Big Kid Event is returning this fall.
Hosted by the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Washington (BGCGW), the event is happening on October 25. It begins at 6 p.m. at the Martin K. Alloy Boys & Girls Club, 9501 Dean Park Lane in Manassas.
Tickets cost $150 each. Sponsorship opportunities that range from $1,000 to $8,000 are available, as well.
Community members and organizations may purchase tickets and become a sponsor through the BidPal website.
During the Great Big Kid program, Boys & Girls Club members team up with adult mentors. The adults, also known as “Big Kids”, act as role models and offer support to their mentees. These mentors should talk about their experience with their networks and help raise funds for youth.
The mentorship wraps up with the Great Big Kid Event, where the adult who raises the most is named “The Great Big Kid of the Year”.
There are three local Boys & Girls Club branches, including the Martin K. Alloy Boys & Girls Club. The Hylton Boys & Girls Club is located in Dale City, and the General Heiser Boys & Girls Club can be found in Dumfries. More information about the clubs is provided on the BGCGW website.
