Does your child love riding their bike? Then consider getting them involved with Prince William Racing – the county’s first interscholastic cross county mountain bike race team.
The team is made up of middle and high school students in Prince William County.
Prince William Racing is a joint effort between two of the areas biggest names in Cycling and Coaching, Quantico Mountain Bike Club and Endorphin Fitness of Prince William. The group’s goal is to share the love and adventure of mountain biking with today’s youth and enable them to compete in a different kind of scholastic sport.
One of the unique things about the XC MTB team is that every athlete participates fully in every practice, and every athlete will have the opportunity to race in every race. This is a “no bench” sport.
The group ranges from riders with little or no experience on a mountain bike, up to skilled riders. Prince William Racing coaches, and ride leaders are mountain bike riders themselves and ride with the athletes, instructing as they ride.
Each rider puts in the individual effort while gaining the benefits that being part of a team has to offer. Unlike most other sports, these athletes are constantly on the move, and each rider is engaged physically and mentally at all times on the bike.
Prince William Racing will be participating in two cross county mountain bike races, the Virginia High School Mountain Bike series, and the National Interscholastic Cycling Association’s race.
Enrollment for this year’s team will begin in June.
Parents are also encouraged to participate.
