Sweet options are becoming available for those with dietary limitations.
Honey and Ivy Gluten Free is opening this week in Old Town Manassas.
Located at 9105 Center Street, the gluten-free bakery offers coffee, a variety of treats, and custom orders.
In addition to gluten-free products, there are also many vegan items, according to a release from Honey and Ivy.
The brick and mortar business will start welcoming in customers from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday. A ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for 4 p.m. on December 1.
Honey and Ivy Gluten Free started as a vendor at the Manassas Farmers Market. Owner Emily Hamby, who was new to Northern Virginia and has Celiac Disease, noticed a lack of gluten-free choices. So, she began selling baked goods in April 2022.
“Living in a new city and not being able to go out and meet people, I knew that Manassas needed a place where people with dietary restrictions could safely eat and build community with each other,” Hamby said in a release. “And that is exactly what Honey and Ivy has grown to!”
Since starting at the Manassas Farmers Market, her work has extended to the Haymarket Farmers and Clifton Farmers Market. Hamby also added a business partner, Morgan Ulisse.
“We’re so excited to open our doors and invite everyone in!” Ulisse added in a release. “Honey and Ivy is much more than a bakery. I think people will be surprised at all of our options when they first visit. Obviously we have delicious baked goods, but we also have gift items from some of our farmers market friends!”
