Children are staying busy at the General Heiser Boys & Girls Club in Dumfries.
They’re also growing, socially and emotionally.
Games are one method volunteers and staff members to help them learn. However, the club needs more.
Uno, Phase 10, puzzles and board games — such as Trouble — are a few items the club is accepting.
“Those types of games help the kids calm down if they’re in distress or during our transitions when we’re moving from room to room, and it keeps them busy and happy,” Program Aid Teja Washington said.
According to Branch Director Judy Moore, the activities teach the children how to get along.
The branch is also collecting Legos.
“Any of the kids from ages 5 years all the way up through the middle school kids — you can find any of them using the Legos,” Moore said.
Community members may drop off donations at the General Heiser Boys & Girls Club, 17565 Old Stage Coach Road, between 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.
