Local Prince William County band The Fringe Benefits had one of their songs hit the charts in Australia.
According to band member Bruce Moore, their song “You’re On My Time Now” was listed in the top 15 indie songs on Australia’s Valley FM 89.5 station.
“The song was inspired by the police officer who stopped me for speeding on the way to get my daughter and take her to the emergency room. When I asked the officer if this could be quick, he said ‘You’re On My Time Now’. The song is meant as a theme for anyone who has been blocked from their mission by someone who does not know or care about them,” stated Moore.
While his experience with the officer was the inspiration for the song, Moore cautioned that it wasn’t meant to be a slight against law enforcement.
“Most of our police officers in our area are dedicated public servants, friendly and brave. I have helped produce award luncheons to honor our local police since this incident because of this fact. I don’t want this to be a song of protest against the police but rather a more broad theme of blocked progress,” stated Moore.
The Fringe Benefits play at several venues in the Prince William area.
