Families are receiving the food they need for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Local schools are collecting non-perishable items for the Operation Turkey food drive.
Until November 3, community members may bring the donations to participating sites, according to a release from Prince William County Public Sch.
The food is going to Action in Community Through Service (ACTS) and Northern Virginia Family Services (NVFS), which will distribute it to families.
Schools are collecting the following items:
||Gelatins and puddings
|Biscuit, cornbread and muffin mix
|Boxes of desserts
|Broths and soups
||Macaroni and cheese
|Cans of beans
||Pasta and pasta sauces
|Cans of fruits and vegetables
|Cans of potatoes and instant potatoes
||Pie crust mix
|Cans of sweet potatoes and pumpkin
|Coffee, hot chocolate and tea
