Help support hungry families in Prince William.
Following a fundraiser luncheon, sponsored by Burke & Herbert Bank and the Prince William Chamber of Commerce, in Manassas, the sponsors have decided to extend the food drive through November 21.
The food drive is being run to assist the ACTS food pantry, which aids 850 Prince William families every month, according to a release.
Residents that want to help out can bring non-perishable food items to any of the county’s Burke & Herbert Bank locations, according to a Prince William Chamber of Commerce release.
More on ACTS and where you can donate food, from a release:
As the Food Drive Sponsor, Burke & Herbert Bank has extended the food drive beyond the luncheon to the Bank’s local offices to help meet the growing needs of the ACTS food pantry. To contribute to the drive, donations of non-perishable items can be brought to any of the Bank’s four Prince William County branches: 17119 Wayside Drive, Dumfries; 4605 Daisy Reid Avenue, Lake Ridge; 9103 Centreville Road, Manassas; 14008 Smoketown Road, Woodbridge. Donations will be accepted through Saturday, November 21.
“As a local community bank and the oldest bank in Virginia, we believe it is important to support the communities in which we do business,” said Terry Cole, Burke & Herbert Bank Senior Vice President. “We’re pleased to have our branches serve as locations for collection of food donations in conjunction with the Prince William Chamber. We hope the Cuisine de Commerce Food Drive will inspire neighbors to share their bounty with those in need,” she said.
“The Prince William Chamber and Burke & Herbert Back have teamed up with a great idea. Everyone who comes to the event to eat lunch is also ensuring that someone else can eat dinner,” remarked ACTS Chief Executive Officer Steven Liga. “This is creative community collaboration in action. ACTS is only able to do what we do for the community, because the community has always been here for ACTS.”
