Three food banks are receiving support from Prince William County.
Action In Community Through Service (ACTS), the Haymarket Food Pantry, and Northern Virginia Family Service‘s (NVFS) SERVE Campus are each getting a $10,000 donation.
Officials were able to allocate the funds after County Executive Chris Martino declared a state of emergency that took effect on Monday, according to a release from Prince William County.
“There is nothing more important than helping our neighbors, especially those who rely on our local food banks for survival,” Board of County Supervisors (BOCS) Chair Ann Wheeler said in a release. “With children home from school and many working from home, the need is even greater. I urge all of our residents to help their neighbors and provide support as they are able during this trying time.”
ACTS in Dumfries is still accepting donations and is seeking volunteers.
