About 20 aircrafts will be traveling over Manassas.
A flyover is occurring from the Manassas Regional Airport to Novant Health UVA Health System Prince William Medical Center on Wednesday.
Scheduled to begin at 1 p.m., the estimated 15-minute event seeks to thank medical center staff.
Manassas resident Edie Clark came up with the idea and contacted the airport, according to a release from the City of Manassas.
“We are honored to have local pilots join together in a flyover tribute to our healthcare heroes,” Novant Health UVA Health System Prince William Medical Center and Novant Health UVA Health System Haymarket Medical Center President and CEO Stephen Smith said in a release. “Whether caring for patients on the front line or supporting our facility operations during this challenging time, our team members are grateful for this show of support in recognition of their efforts to bring the best of health to our communities today and in the brighter days ahead.”
After leaving the airport, the aircrafts will travel over downtown Manassas toward the water tower. Then, they will turn to the hospital’s main and emergency room entrances and fly back to the airport.
Community members will be able to watch the flyover from the route or on the Manassas Regional Airport Facebook page.
