Trauma-Informed Care Workshop: Immigrated Youth, Families and Resiliency

Please join the Greater Prince William Trauma-Informed Network for an enlightening training event. The event is free and open to professionals and community members.
Meredith McKeen, MSSW, Director of Youth Initiatives and the Multicultural Center at Northern Virginia Family Services will present Recently Immigrated Youth-Immigrant Parent and Child Family Dynamics.
This presentation provides an understanding of the dynamics and impacts of immigration, separation, and reunification on children and families. Topics covered include: types of traumatic experiences and exposures common in newly immigrated youth and families, the immigration process for Unaccompanied Minors, reunification in the context of immigration-related separation, effective interventions and resources.
Attendees will also view Resilience: The Biology of Stress and Science of Hope.
A brief discussion of the movie and community initiatives will conclude the morning.
A snow date is scheduled for January 17th.
