Sensational rock stars Styx, REO Speedwagon, and Don Felder are bringing their signature sounds to the Jiffy Lube Live!
Styx was formed in Roseland (Chicago) in the early 60s when twin brothers Chuck (bass guitar) and John Panozzo (drums) got together with their neighbor Dennis DeYoung (vocals and keyboards). They first called themselves the Tradewinds but changed it to TW4 in 1965 when another band called the Trade Winds became famous. In 1972 the band was spotted by a talent scout at a concert and it led to a record deal. They decided to change their name again and according to Dennis, Styx was chosen because it was “the only one that none of us hated”. The band’s been through many line up changes and currently consists of Chuck Panozzo (bass, backing vocals, bass pedals), James ‘J.Y’ Young (guitar, backing and lead vocals, additional keyboards), Tommy Shaw (guitar, backing and lead vocals, mandolin, autoharp), Todd Sucherman (drums, percussion, backing vocals), Lawrence Gowan (lead and backing vocals, keyboards, additional guitars), and Ricky Phillips (bass, backing vocals, additional guitar). They’ve had a stellar career with 15 studio albums (5 of which have achieved multi-Platinum status), 6 live albums, 14 compilation albums, 2 EPs, and 31 singles (16 of which are top 40 hits).
