“School of Rock” Presented by ARTfactory’s Pied Piper Theatre

Manassas, VA, Pied Piper Theatre presents, School of Rock- The Musical based on the Paramount movie by Mark White with book by Julian Fellowes, Lyrics by Glenn Slater, and new music by Andrew Lloyd Weber. Performances will be at the Hylton Performing Arts Center’s Gregory Family Theatre.

Rock got no reason, rock got no rhyme…You better get me to school on time! Andrew Lloyd Webber’s School of Rock – The Musical is a two-hour, two-act show (plus intermission), based on the hit movie. The tuner follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn an extra bit of cash by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There he turns a class of straight–A pupils into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. But can he get them to the Battle of the Bands without their parents and the school’s headmistress finding out?

“The School of Rock movie is such a favorite of many of our friends and family and the musical version is so much fun,” states Kimberly Kemp, director of theatre arts at the ARTfactory. “Our cast is having a great time learning the music and choreography. My favorite part of directing is watching the growth from the first rehearsal to production. Our cast has done an exceptional job bringing these characters to life. I can’t wait to share their work with an audience.”

The production is directed by Kimberly Kemp, music directed by Veronica Miller, produced by Tami Pugmire and Aimee Beckwith, and stage managed by Rebecca Niccolotti.
