Sensational alternative rock bands Counting Crows and Matchbox Twenty are bringing their signature sounds to the Jiffy Lube Live!
The Counting Crows were formed in Berkeley in 1991 by singer Adam Duritz and guitarist David Bryson. Their name is a reference to a British nursery rhyme (titled One For Sorrow) about the superstitious counting of magpies (one of several birds in the crow family). The band’s been through many line up changes over the years and currently consists of Adam (lead vocals and piano), David (rhythm guitar and vocals), Charlie Gillingham (keyboards, piano, accordion, and clarinet), Dan Vickrey (lead guitar, banjo, and vocals), David Immerglück (guitar, pedal steel guitar, banjo, mandolin, and vocals), Jim Bogios (drums and percussion) and Millard Powers (bass guitar, keyboards, and vocals). Their musical style can be best described as a blend of pop rock, roots rock, folk rock, indie pop, and they cite Van Morrison, R.E.M., Mike + The Mechanics, Bob Dylan, and The Band as their main influences. Their breakthrough came with the release of their debut album (August and Everything After) in 1993 and they went on to have a stellar career with 6 more studio albums, 6 live albums, 2 compilation albums, and 32 singles. They’ve sold over 20 million albums worldwide and have been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song.
