John Mayer, Connecticut’s sensational pop and rock artist is bringing his signature sounds to the Jiffy Lube Live!
John Clayton Mayer was born in Bridgeport (Connecticut) in 1977 and is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and producer. His interest in the guitar was sparked when he saw Michael J. Fox’s guitar performance as Marty McFly in Back to the Future. He got his first guitar when he was 13 and started listening to Stevie Ray Vaughan. That led to a fascination with blues music and he started exploring the work of blues guitarists such as Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Freddie King, Albert King, Otis Rush and Lightnin’ Hopkins. He stared his career mainly performing acoustic rock but gradually began moving towards blues. Over the years, his musical style has encompassed pop, rock, blues, folk, soul, and even country music. He’s had a stellar career with 6 studio albums, 7 live albums, 3 compilation albums, 2 video albums, 17 music videos, 24 singles, and 5 extended plays. He’s received many accolades including 7 Grammy Awards (for Song of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Male Rock Vocal Performance, and 4 for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance) from 19 nominations. In 2015 he – along with 3 original Grateful Dead members (Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann), Oteil Burbridge, and Jeff Chimenti – formed the rock band Dead and Company.
