Dumfries Charter Day

The Dumfries Charter Day is taking place on May 12.

A free day of family fun commemorating the oldest-chartered town in Virginia! Opening ceremony to be held at the William Grayson Memorial Bandstand at 11:00 a.m. followed by a schedule of musical and dance performances. The Weems-Botts Museum will be free and open to the public and will feature costumed interpreters in living history vignettes. Come chat with Parson Weems himself! Food and craft vendors, living history demonstrations and reenactors, children’s activities, raffles, and informational tables on local resources and historical organizations will be open throughout the event. The Weems-Botts Museum is operated by Historic Dumfries Virginia, Inc. a 501(c)3 non-profit membership organization whose mission is to preserve and promote the historic heritage of Dumfries – Virginia’s oldest chartered town. Historic Dumfries Virginia also hosts educational programs and events and maintains a research library, archive, and collections of artifacts related to Dumfries’ history.
