Get ready for Camp SheEO, an enrichment summer program for young girls that will be hosted in July.
According to a release, the programs will be hosted at the Woodbridge and Manassas campuses of Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) in five day stints in July.
“SheEO is a program outreach initiative that gives girls an added complement to their traditional education with hands-on workshops, journaling and team-building activities. Participants in SheEO are encouraged to outwardly express their dreams, set goals, write plans, discuss business and finance methods, embrace their unique differences and identify opportunities,” stated a release.
More on the program, and the schedule of dates, from a release:
As part of the SheEO initiative, Camp SheEO is divided into two age groups, First Step and Next Step. First Step introduces fundamental concepts of leadership skills for girls ages 8 to 13. Next Step is designed to focus on career planning for girls ages 11 to 16 with aspirations of becoming an entrepreneur or for those who have completed a previous SheEO camp. Campers will interact with local business owners, design a dream board and a business plan. Girls will receive a personalized workbook, success journal and tote bag. Participants are asked to bring their own lunch and drink each day of camp.

SheEO Founder, DeShawn Robinson-Chew is also an adjunct business and social science professor at NOVA-Woodbridge. She said the concept of the SheEO program is designed to challenge girls to develop new and creative ideas.
“I would like young girls and their parents to embrace our vision to empower the CEO in every girl, which simply means expose them to tools and encourage confidence to lead and succeed in anything,” Chew said. “This is an experiential learning enrichment camp, where girls have fun being motivated to share their creativity together.”
Each site has space for 24 girls, according to a release. To register, click here.
