A recent donation to a couple of elementary schools is supporting reading efforts.
In November, St. Paul United Methodist Church hosted an Arts and Crafts Fair.
One of the vendors – the River Ridge Quilters and Crafters – decided to donate the funds it collected to classroom libraries.
Last month, the group presented just over $650 to Rockledge Elementary School in Lake Ridge and Occoquan Elementary School.
The donation is going to the Classroom Library Book Fund. Teachers at the elementary schools will be able to use the money to restock their libraries. They have been purchasing new books themselves when books experience wear and tear.
