A story about George Washington is being remembered at a Dumfries museum.
The Weems-Botts Museum is getting a historical marker.
Donated by The Mary Elizabeth Conover Foundation, it will feature the George Washington and cherry tree fable.
At 10 a.m. on February 17, a Historical Marker Dedication and Ceremony will be held at the museum, 3944 Cameron Street.
Historic Dumfries Virginia, which seeks to preserve Dumfries’ history, runs The Weems-Botts Museum.
Afterward, community members may tour the museum, talk to interpreters, and enjoy music by the Broad Run Strings.
Food from Jeremiah’s Kansas City Style Bar B Q will be available, as well.
