A Dumfries military family received a $10,000 surprise this week.
According to a release, Bassett Furniture, and Freedom Alliance – an organization that supports and assists military service members and their families – worked together to donate $10,000 worth of bedroom furnishings for the Goodrich family.
Special Operations Team Sgt. Timothy Goodrich was wounded during combat in Afghanistan in 2012, where he suffered a brain injury and major shrapnel wounds, according to a release.
Goodrich’s injuries had a profound impact on his family and “his wife and children have had to stay by his side and assist him with daily living activities ever since,” stated a release.
According to a release, Goodrich and his wife have never owned bedroom furniture, and this was a way for Bassett Furniture and Freedom Alliance to give back to them for their service.
