School supplies are getting in the hands of Dumfries students and teachers.
The Prince William Humane Society (PWHS) has donated more than $1,000 of material to Dumfries Elementary School.
A few months ago, the PWHS Adopt Shop closed and began getting rid of items, according to a release from the PWHS. Kennels, pet food, floor cleaning machines were donated and sold to animal welfare organizations.
It decided to give away the remaining office supplies – which included pens, pencils, paper, staples, binders, file folders and books – to those who need it.
“Teachers and students are struggling unlike ever before in light of funding issues and COVID, and we knew our supplies would be put to good use!” the PWHS release stated.
SchoolSparrow.com named Dumfries Elementary School the #1 Hidden Gem in the Washington, D.C., area.
“We are proud to support the teachers and students of Dumfries Elementary, a school highlighted in a recent article as the area’s top school for test scores, affordable living, and diversity,” PWHS President Lori Leary said in a release.
