$50,000, hard work, and generosity.
That’s what led to Friday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony at the General Heiser Branch of the Boys & Girls Club in Dumfries, to launch their new upgrade to their Clubhouse area.
According to a release, the renovation of the Clubhouse was possible thanks to a $50,000 grant that was awarded to the club by Lowe’s, as well as more than 70 hours of volunteer labor that was put in by local Lowe’s employees.
The grant is part of Lowe’s $1 million commitment to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, according to a release.
Currently, the Dumfries club has more than 150 children participating their programming, and
this renovation will give them a more functional and exciting space.
“Our upstairs looks like a new facility. Fresh paint on the walls, new flooring, an updated snack area, upgraded light and an upgraded security system create a welcoming and safer atmosphere for our Members and families. We are excited about the new look that we have here at Heiser and are grateful to Lowe’s for making this possible,” stated Judy Moore, General Heiser Branch Director, in a release.
