A famous author was remembered today.
Students and community leaders across the nation honored Dr. Seuss’ birthday by reading.
“All the students here at Jenkins Elementary are celebrating literacy, as a result of Dr. Seuss’ birthday,” Principal Marlene Coleman explained to What’s Up Prince William.
Ernestine Jenkins was among those who participated in the national event.
She read to kids in the Ernestine Jenkins Story Room at John D. Jenkins Elementary School.
“I’m going to share some thoughts about Dr. Seuss and read … one or two of my favorite books,” Jenkins said.
The school, which is located in the Occoquan district, opened in August. It’s named after former Supervisor John Jenkins.
Jenkins, the county’s longest serving Supervisor, served on the Board of County Supervisors (BOCS) for more than 36 years.
