Those awaiting the fate of the Haymarket-Gainesville 230-kilovolt power line project may be disappointed: The February 8 hearing has been postponed.
The hearing, which was scheduled to take place in Richmond, has been pushed back to April 30.
“We asked for an extension so that the procedural schedule accommodates the General Assembly’s consideration of Del. [Tim] Hugo’s bill to create an electric transmission underground pilot program, which could have a direct bearing on the case,” said Dominion Media and Community Relations Manager Chuck Penn in an email.
The bill, if approved, calls for the State Corporation Commission (SCC) to approve undergrounding two transmission lines that would be funded by customers. One of the lines has been proposed by Dominion Energy and would run along the I-66 Overhead Route.
On April 30, Dominion Energy will have an opportunity to discuss why the project should move forward with the SCC, which set up the hearing last month.
Despite the delay, community members will still have a chance to share their perspective with the SCC on February 8.
