Learning is about to begin for local canines.
The Humane Society of Northern Virginia (HSNV) is bringing back its dog training classes on April 15.
They are taking place at the humane society’s outdoor training area. HSNV is located at 17983 Dumfries Shopping Plaza in Dumfries.

The classes that will be offered are: Basic Obedience, Canine Good Citizen (CGC) – beginner, advanced and urban – Clicker, and S.T.A.R. Puppy.
“We make sure our classes are fun and we have awesome trainers who give special attention to dogs according to their needs,” Trainer Phillis Peppard wrote in an email to What’s Up Prince William. “We do teach old dogs new tricks! Our Most Improved Student last year was 10. He had been to several trainers and he and his mom worked very hard on his barking issue.”
Two of the trainers have experience with rescue dogs, Peppard added. One of the trainers focuses on dogs that are larger or can be more difficult to handle.
The 6-week-long training is taking place on Saturday mornings and costs $90.
