A recent State of the Town Address filled residents with joy. The mayor, Derrick Wood, announced the John Wilmer Porter Municipal Building, 17755 Main Street, is home to a future DMV Select.
DMV Select is a program in which local governments and private entities contract with DMV to provide limited services. Residents will have the option to use the facility for some DMV services such as, vehicle titles and registration, license plates, and voter registration applications.
Furthermore, Mayor Wood elaborated on improvements the town of Dumfries accomplished within the past year. The town is six years ahead of schedule for moving into a new town hall building and $7 million under the projected budget for the transition. The finances are balanced and taxes will not be raised in the town for the year.
Scholarship recipients were announced, as well. Melonie Bennet received $15,000 from IG Global. The following people were awarded $1,500 each:
