Citizens have another way to complete errands without spending as much time waiting in line.
A DMV Select has opened at 17755 Main Street in Dumfries.
The grand opening and ribbon cutting took place on September 18.
Located in the Dumfries Town Hall — which was named the John Wilmer Porter Municipal Building in June — the center will offer limited services.
Visitors will be able to complete vehicle transactions at the facility, according to Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Commissioner Rick Holcomb.
“So, if you’re titling a vehicle, if you’re just getting your decals — you can do all that in this office through our partnership with the town instead of going to the Woodbridge office or the Manassas office, which sometimes tend to be pretty busy,” Holcomb said.
Avoiding long lines isn’t the only perk.
Community members won’t be required to pay a $5 walk-in fee at the DMV Select, Dumfries Mayor Derrick Wood explained.
“In addition to that, on special occasions — like December the 9th — we’re going to have the REAL ID right here in our conference room that’s going to even allow you to get REAL ID,” Wood added.
REAL ID is a driver’s license and identification card.
Starting October 1, 2020, individuals must present the REAL ID or another approved identification in order to board domestic flights or access secure federal buildings, according to the Virginia DMV website.
