If you drive on Route 1, expect some delays overnight this week as crews perform repair work on the road.
According to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), the crews will be on Route 1 between Fredericksburg and Stafford, making repairs to the Falmouth Bridge deck.
“Route 1 will be reduced to one northbound and one southbound lane overnight beginning Sunday night, with all northbound lanes open by 6 a.m. All southbound lanes will re-open by 7 a.m.,” stated a release.
Tonight through December 22 the northbound lanes will have closures from 9 p.m. to 6 p.m. and southbound from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m., according to VDOT.
“Crews will be working to replace temporary asphalt patches on the bridge deck with concrete to provide a smoother travel surface and a more durable repair, and reduce the risk of potholes,” stated a release.
