Today marks fifty years in service for the Dale City Volunteer Fire Department (DCVFD).
According to a release, DCVFD signed its official charter and began their work as a volunteer fire department.
As part of Fire Prevention Week, which runs October 8 to October 14, the DCVFD is hosting an Open House at 3171 Prince William Parkway.
“We’re going to have a big variety of things for you to do…it’s going to be a day of fun,” said DCVFD firefighter Victory Angry.
DCVFD is selling $20 t-shirts that commemorate the 50-year anniversary.
Here’s a statement from DCVFD Chief Christopher Hool:
On October 4, 1967, members of the Dale City community, who wanted to establish a volunteer fire department to protect their community, received the approved charter from the Commonwealth of Virginia. This formally established the Dale City Volunteer Fire Department.
From those humble beginnings, the Dale City Volunteer Fire Department has grown to be the largest volunteer fire and rescue department in Virginia, as well as one of the largest in the country. A special thanks to our members past and present, to include their families, for their years of dedicated service building this great department and providing services to the citizens of Prince William County.
Because of our membership and community support, the Dale City Volunteer Fire Department shall continue to be “Second to None” and “Built to Last.”
