The Dale City Lions want to sell you some fruit – for a good cause.
As part of their fundraising efforts, the club is hosting a ‘Winter Fruit Sale’ from November 18 to December 28 at the First Baptist Church of Woodbridge on Minnieville Road.
Volunteers will be on site Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
According to a Dale City Lions release, all proceeds from the sale will help diabetes awareness, sight and hearing preservation, drug awareness, The Old Dominion Eye Bank, Leader Dogs and the Northern Virginia Lions Youth Camp.
More on the Lions Club programs from a release:
We work with Lake Ridge Lions to provide Pediavision screening for many local schools and pre-schools, such as Kerrydale Elementary, Enterprise Elementary, and Bel Air Elementary School. These screening machines detect early vision problems and parents are notified for follow up care. The screening device is fast, accurate and can identify conditions that may impair a child’s ability to learn.
We provide free eyeglasses for those who cannot afford to purchase their own glasses. We provide hearing aids for needy folks who have no other options.
Additionally, we collect food and deliver to local food pantries. We work in our community through our Adopt a Highway Program, and we have lots of new projects and ideas in the near future.
Dale City Lions are always seeking to do more and do it better. Join the Dale City Lions! We meet on first and third Tuesdays at the Old Country Buffet on Prince William Parkway at 7:00 PM. We are actively seeking new members. Look for our events on Patch!
