The Prince William County Fatherhood Initiative will be hosting a Dad’s Play Day on June 11 in Dale City.
According to a release, the free event will take place at 8:30 p.m. at the Andrew Leitch Waterworks Waterpark at 5301 Dale Boulevard.
“It is primarily a celebration of fathers and their children. The purpose is to provide an event where dads and children can spend quality time together,” stated Prince William County Department of Social Services Adult and Child Services Division Chief Phyllis Jennings-Holt in a release.
During the play day, there will be swimming, basketball, an obstacle course, table tennis, arts and crafts, and cornhole games, as well as refreshments, according to a release.
The Fatherhood Initiative is run under the Prince William County Department of Social Services, and the program is meant to help strengthen father-child relationships, according to a release.
“It’s a program we have where we provide eight- to 10-week support groups … to give dads skills on how to build healthy relationships with their children and how to be better fathers,” stated Jennings-Holt in a release.
