Newly built Covington-Harper Elementary School will have an opening ceremony on August 24.
Named for former school board members Betty Covington and John Harper Jr., the school is located at 2500 River Heritage Boulevard in Dumfries. It is located within the Potomac Shores community.
The school name was selected by the Prince William County School Board back in February.
“The school is expecting to have a first-year enrollment of about 500 students. Current students within the attendance boundaries will be automatically enrolled,” stated a release.
The ceremony will take place at 6 p.m.
